Flutter: Bad@Love’s 1st Annual “Creepy” Spooktacular Moments in Dating

The dates get creepier and the reading gets harder as the wine keeps flowing.

Moral to the Story: Let’s be respectful on dates and don’t assume you know everything. Also, know when to leave a date.

Other Fun Topics Discussed:

  • Mallory is a footist.
  • Mallory’s creepy clapper date also smelled like cabbage.
  • That time Tamu had someone follow her home from high school.

Flutter: Bad@Love’s 1st Annual Awkward Spooktacular Moments in Dating

Halloween season is kicking off with a bang thanks to the brave women and men who submitted their awkward date stories.

There were so many responses to requests for tales from dating that Tamu & Mallory ended up breaking them into three separate categories; Awkward, Creepy, and Scary.  Enjoy these awkward dating moments.

Moral to the Story: Yes, people can be awkward when it comes to dating and finding love; but, let’s treat one another with respect so we can all laugh about it later.

Episode 7: Heartaches and Dusty Diaphragms

In this week’s episode, Mallory and Tamu explore ways to get over a relationship by watching 2001’s  Someone Like You and discussing local Minnesota rapper Dessa’s experiment with neuroscience to pinpoint the parts of her brain where emotions of love were triggered by her former lover with whom she was broken up with (but he was still in her life) for 12 years. She then used neurofeedback to train her brain to work differently.

Moral to the Story: With practice, we can find our very own Hugh Jackman.

Other Fun Topics Discussed:

  • Tamu is still butt hurt about not getting listener emails at badatlovepodcast@gmail.com
  • Dessa’s new album Chime and her older songs.
  • Dessa would have had her songs added to Tamu’s Banned@Love playlist.
  • It was cute to see life pre-internet in Someone Like You
  • New Cow Theory
  • Hugh Jackman reaffirms that we should have fun.
  • Protect your holes.
  • Back in the 2000s no one believed in padding.
  • It is easier to run than to be vulnerable.
  • Beyoncé don’t play.
  • Plan to internet date around the world.

Episode 6.2: Mallory, The Bachelorette Cynic

In the exciting second part of this thrilling episode, Mallory continues to watch the contesticles get out of cars and drink, and dunk basketballs, and critique each other’s clothes in the name of “love”.

Moral to the Story: Be honest because telling people in advance you have warrants, are a homophobe, a racist, a virgin, or, a persistent gentleman will surely still get you on a romance reality competition show.

Other Fun Topics Discussed:

  • Mallory had REAL issues with Jake from Minneapolis.
  • What is your patronus? The new pick up line for the zillennials? Perennials? Whatever the new millennials are called.
  • Shout out to Shoulda Swiped Left Podcast for keeping it real about the dating world.

Flutter: America, the Human Centipede

It started out like any other recording session, but it quickly turned into something else… Mallory and Tamu typically do not get too deep into politics on this podcast, but both women have very strong opinions about what is happening at the border and could not remain silent. There isn’t a mistake in the editing; there is no music per usual on purpose.

Moral to the Story: Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. There is a long history in this country of family separation/internment/general othering of groups of people; the difference now is we can break the cycle.

Flutter: Bad at Love @ The Movies – “I Feel Pretty”

In this week’s Flutter, Mallory and Tamu discuss a movie they saw back in April; Amy Schumer’s, I Feel Pretty.

Moral to the Story: Do whatever you think makes you feel pretty, and see Avengers: Infinity War.

Other Fun Topics Discussed:

  • Northern Spark
  • Winter because its Minnesota
  • The importance of telling your friends when you’ve suffered a head injury.

Episode 4, Part 2: Mallory’s Poor, Dark Closet

In this week’s episode, Tamu & Mallory dig deep into Mallory’s school-aged treasures and talk about her teenage crushes.

We learn about her love of Heath Ledger, David Bowie, Jeff Goldblum (of course), and Orlando Bloom, a.k.a., Legolas. Turns out, Mr. Bloom held a special place in her heart for a number of years as we discover from all of the assorted Lord of the Rings posters, trading cards, and assorted memorabilia she collected.

Mallory shares her drawings from art high school and, much like Tamu’s journals and poetry, they provide amazing insights about a young lady, who really wanted to be a warrior, who loves dragons, and yearned for the heart of one hot, blonde elf; Legolas.

Moral to the Story: Crushes are fun!

Other Fun Topics Discussed:

  • Anime character development.
  • Mallory’s high-school Spanish project.
  • Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop.
  • Mallory has a hand-signed note from JK Rowling!
  • Lawyer braids
  • Mallory’s ocean wedding to Orlando Bloom, complete with dolphin.

Apologies: We used to record at the library and every time we did, we would get interrupted. This was our last recording session there and we thought we made it unscathed…we were wrong! Enjoy that announcement at the end!
